Sustainability at SUI.
Our sustainability pledge to you.
At SUI, we are dedicated to reducing our environmental impact through sustainable practices in all aspects of our business.
Materials-
We are based in Shrewsbury, England and we manufacture the leather journals by hand, because manufacturing is based onshore we have aimed to source all our materials from European suppliers with the exception of our brass rivets from the USA. We use vegetable tanned leather that not only mitigates the use of environmentally harmful chemicals in the tanning process but also gives a final product that is harder wearing and develops character with age, our stance on using leather is based on the premise that our product is designed to stand the test of time so it can be used for a lifetimes worth of journalling. Our elastic natural rubber and cotton string mitigates the use of plastics and can be replaced if it wears out but should last many years. Our solid brass rivets are hand milled in the use and are built to last, they also gain a stunning oxidised patina with age. Our booklets are manufactured in Milton Keynes and the paper is FSC certified meaning that all the forestry the paper pulp is sourced from is sustainably managed. We believe a journal that pushes you to be your best shouldn't be undermined by using anything less than the best materials.
Warranty and Repairs-
We are proud to announce we are more than happy to take on responsibility of any flaws in our products, if you have any issues with manufacturing defects within the first 1 year of purchasing your product, we will take it back and either repair/replace your journal at no cost. Beyond 1 year we also run a scheme in which you can send your journal to be repaired at a minimal cost, alternatively we can send you any replacement parts also at a minimal cost. (general wear and tear is not covered by our warranty such as scratching of leather is not covered.)
